Kat Lemieux's blogMany ISM References in Recent Articles
Recently several articles and websites have included information or at least pictures about the ISM. Here are a few I know about:
New Machinima Video Features ISM ContentWatch this YouTube video by SL resident Earth Primbee to see some of the ISM exhibits in action, including the Titan II rocket launch, and images of several other exhibits. Some of this video was recorded on Elon's Moon platform, and other parts feature NASA film clips. All in all, a great video!
Picture of Ed Lu and others at ISMHere's a snapshot taken during Ed Lu's visit to the ISM, courtesy of Bruce Damer. Used with permission. See the story of this visit in the previous blog entry. Ed is the one facing away from the camera, wearing white t-shirt and jeans. At this point his avatar was only about 15 minutes old.
ISS Astronaut Visits ISM's ISSEd Lu, who spent six months aboard the International Space Station, came to see the Second Life version of ISS in the "upper sim" area of the ISM's Spaceport Alpha recently. He was invited to SL by Piet Hut, whom he had phoned from space in 2003, saying, "Guess where I am?" So, Piet called him from atop one of the solar panels in ISM's ISS and asked him the same question, reminding him of that earlier phone call. Next Metaverse Meetup at ISM & Stanford Scheduled
For our second Metaverse Meetup we are truly pleased to present Jamais Cascio one the authors of the interesting Metaverse Roadmap. Our first meetup turned out to be very well attended by some very interesting people both at Stanford and in Second Life. We know we have an interesting speaker and topic for this second event and once again will open the floor for some nice and geeky conversation afterwards, so please come join us.

Video Online of Stanford Metaverse Meetup at ISM & Stanford
The Stanford Metaverse Meetup was held last week (08 Nov 2007) simultaneously at Stanford, California and in Second Life (at the International Spaceflight Museum, in a purpose-built dome on the roof of the VAB in Spaceport Bravo). Now the video is available online.
InfoWorld interviews Joe Miller of Linden Lab, in front of ISMImages and videos of the International Spaceflight Museum provide the backdrop for about half of Stephen Fox's interview of Joe Miller, VP for Platform & Technology Development at Linden Lab. Watch the video on YouTube by clicking here. Thanks to Troy for pointing this out to me.
CAP Journal article includes ISM, SciLandsThe October 2007 issue of has an article called Astronomy in Second Life By Adrienne J. Gauthier that describes some of the current astronomy themed spaces in SL, including the ISM, and briefly discusses future innovations. There are some excellent pictures in the paper, too, including a striking panorama of ISM's Spaceport Alpha. ISM Planning Group member Helio Huet spotted this link at http://universetoday.com. Thanks, Helio!
ISM Group Members Author SL Building GuideSeveral ISM planning group members attended a book party for Kimberly Rufer-Bach (Kim Anubis in SL) Sunday afternoon. She and Aimee Weber, another of our members, along with several other authors, have an exciting new book out. The title is Creating Your World: The Official Guide to Advanced Content Creation for Second Life. I don't have my copy yet, but I'm told that the ISM is mentioned, and another ISM group member, DaVinci Doctorow (his SL name) is quoted several times. First eBay Sponsorship Auctions WonCongratulations and enormous thanks to Firesabre Consulting, winner of both exhibit sponsorships recently auctioned on eBay. Those sponsorships will begin on November 1st, and last for 3 months. This initial foray into extra-SL fund raising was such a success, that we've decided to make it a regular feature of our fund raising activities.
