International Spaceflight Museum

Several of our museum group members plan to attend SLCC in San Francisco in mid-August. A group called "SLCC Educators" has a website where they are organizing an educational track for the conference. So, if anyone from ISM would like to volunteer

As you know, we have some "notebook computers" around the museum for visitors to use to leave us comments. Here's one from last night:

"The interactive displays are the spice that add flavour to your incredible static displays. You have created an amazing exhibit here....thank you!"

This visitor also left a sizable donation in our tipjar. The community response to the museum continues to be overwhelmingly positive.

After visiting the museum, Philip was interviewed by a CNET reporter, and briefly mentioned the telescope trainer at the planetarium. See the interview here.

Meno Rich of Worldbridges will tour the museum and interview several museum group members during his webcast on Sunday at 7 p.m. SLT (7 p.m. Pacific time).

I've created a template to use on this site for exhibit descriptions in the "Book" area of the site. See the attached file, "SpacecraftPageTemplate.txt". Of course, for different types of exhibits the section headings and content might need adjusting, but this can give you a general idea

I've just posted an entry on the Resident-Run Websites board in the SL forums about this site, so we may be seeing more traffic here as well as on the island.

It's been suggested that we ought to have a SLURL link to the museum on our site. Good idea. What's SLURL? It's a web link that takes you directly to a page with an online map of Second Life showing the destination. Those benighted masses who have not yet downloaded the Second Life client software will be offered the opportunity to do so. Or, if you have SL already and if it's not open, it will start up the client and teleport you to the destination.

So, where in the (virtual) world is Spaceport Alpha!
