The ISM is Not NASA

I was at an SL trade fair the other day and got into a conversation with a nice fellow there. For some reason, I ended up telling him that I'm with the International Spaceflight Museum (ISM).

His reply was something like, "Oh. Hey, are you involved with that NASA build on Spaceport Alpha?"

Aaaaaargh!

There is no NASA build on Spaceport Alpha. That's where the ISM is located, and the ISM is not NASA.

This isn't the first time someone thought the ISM was NASA. I guess when people see rockets and such, they just automatically assume NASA is involved.

But no, the ISM is not NASA. The ISM was built and is run by enthusiasts and volunteers from around the world, with no involvement from NASA. Moreover, NASA is a branch of the US government, but the rockets and other things at the ISM are from all over the world.

The Spaceflight Museum Planning Group has discussed putting up signs saying "We are NOT NASA!". But the truth is, we have nothing against NASA. We like NASA!

Okay, I'm done ranting now. Good day :)
