- The Bioflight missions were precursors to the US manned spaceflight program.
- Bioflight 1 - Gordo
- Gordo was a squirrel monkey launched aboard a Jupiter rocket on 13 Dec 1958 in order to study the performance of cardio-vascular systems and temperature, and the effects of radiation exposure resulting from space travel. This mission launched from Cape Canaveral flew to an altitude of 300 miles (480 km).
- Bioflight 2 - Able & Baker
- A capsule holding two monkeys named Able and Baker were launched on 28 May 1959 for a sub-orbital trip 300 miles (480 km) high from Cape Canaveral.
