Forums & Blogs

Using online forums to increase awareness of the museum in the SL community and beyond. Also, links to various online blogs that deal with Second Life.

ISM Mentioned in Podcast

Jet Burns from JPL told me yesterday that he had "favorably mentioned" the ISM during his interview by Cypress Rosewood for episode 5 of his podcast. Jet said he was on about 30 minutes into the program. Many of you will recognize Cypress as the musician who has given several concerts at Spaceport Alpha. His genre is "space music" so if you like that kind of thing you will definitely want to check out his show. Thanks to both Jet and Cypress!

ISM Selected as one of "The SimTeach 12"

Jeremy Kemp, the guy behind SimTeach.com, one of SL's best resources for educators, has just compiled a list of 12 key people, locations, events and tools in the SL educators universe. We at the ISM are very pleased that he selected our museum for that list. Thanks Jeremy!

Wiki Server Down (No Longer)

The ISM wiki was unavailable because of a problem that arose during the recent move. We know what the problem was, but the wiki was unavailable for several days. Deepest apologies! Service is now restored.

Henrik Linden Reveals Draft of a Case Study on the Museum

Henrik Linden is studying creativity in Second Life and part of his research has led him to write a case study on the museum.  On August 11, he posted a link to the beta version of his case study on his blog.  Check it out here.

Davee's TRUTHS Presentation Blogged at SL Insider

Caliandris Pendragon came to Davee Commerce's presentation about the TRUTHS satellite this past Sunday (July 23) and wrote about it in the Second Life Insider blog.

NMC Campus Observer Blog Post about the Shuttle Launch Coverage

The New Media Consortium (NMC) has an island in Second Life, named NMC Campus. (To go there you need to join the "NMC Guests" group.) They have a blog associated with that island - the NMC Campus Observer. Today, one of their writers, CDB Barkley (aka Alan Levine), wrote a post about his visit to the museum for our Space Shuttle launch coverage on Saturday.

By the way, the launch was postponed to Sunday, and then again until Tuesday at 2:38 pm ET (11:38 am SL time). The museum will keep showing the live video feed at the central stage and all are welcome to come and discuss events as they unfold.

Hamlet Blogs about Watching the Shuttle Launch at ISM

Hamlet Au showed up at Spaceport Alpha Friday and took a snapshot of Troy and Kat in front of the center stage screen, where the NASA TV webcast of Saturday's Shuttle launch will be available for all to watch. Thanks for the continued support, Hamlet!

Another blog about ISM

epredator Potato (Ian Hughes) recently visited the International Spaceflight Museum, and posted a very positive blog about it. Thanks, epredator!

ISM Mentioned on the Bad Astronomy Website

The International Spaceflight Museum was mentioned in the Forums (see post #8) at the Bad Astronomy website. Thanks Freyr!

We've already had at least one visitor who came to see the museum because of that post.

Publicizing the ISM website

I've just posted an entry on the Resident-Run Websites board in the SL forums about this site, so we may be seeing more traffic here as well as on the island.
